What
is Westminster Domestic Violence Forum?
Westminster Domestic Violence Forum (WDVF) works towards the elimination
of domestic violence through improving multi-agency practice, in order to provide
the best responses possible to the needs of families from different communities
in the City.
The Forum
was launched in 1997 and is managed by NCH
Space for Change (NCHSfC) on behalf of its member agencies.
We have 80 member agencies from both the statutory
and voluntary sectors participating in our work.
To guide our work we liaise closely with the ‘Phoenix
Group’ - local women survivors of domestic violence.
In order to improve services to families living
with domestic violence we have four working sub-groups:
Multi-agency
Practice: developing guidance for agencies to improve their
practice
Training:
a ‘Training Pool’ provides staff training about domestic violence to all agencies
Prevention
Strategies: guides our schools project and assists agencies
to work with male perpetrators
Legal
Issues:
guiding domestic violence practice in the criminal and civil courts processes
